Wake Forest University Mainstage Production of Sarah Ruhl's 'Eurydice' directed by Brook Davis. I had the overwhelming fortune of portraying the Nasty Interesting Man (The Lord of the Underworld). It was a devilishly good time.

Wake Forest University Mainstage Production of José Rivera's 'Sonnets for an Old Century' directed by Cindy Gendrich & Christina Tsoules-Soriano. This monologic play is a poetic goldmine, with a rich sensual language that is both lyrical & colloquial. As a member of the Ensemble, this was my first experience doing Devised Theatre.

Trifles
THE 250: Theatrical Scene Design [taught by WFU prof. Jon Christman]. Spring 2011. "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell. 2 drafts of a working ground plan for this one-act play, which calls for 1 interior unit set of the period in which it was written: Rural Iowa, 1916. Also, 1 hand-drawn preliminary perspective rendering. Later on in the course we electronically superimposed all of our dimensional & angular data [in scale: 1/4 in = 1 ft] in order to construct a panoramic 3-D modeling view of our scenographic concept using VectorWorks, 2012 (Architectural Imaging, Technical Drawing, & Drafting Software).

Inspired by Harold Pinter's "Mountain Language" (1988). This was originally an early conceptual costume design that I rendered using graphite, charcoal, and ink. Later on, however, I decided to convert the piece into an abstract watercolor painting.

The World Falls Away
"The World Falls Away" is a photo-manipulation project I competed in August/September 2012. Essentially, I took Bill Ray III's original production photograph - of me portraying the "Nasty Interesting Man" (Lord of the Underworld) in Wake Forest University's Spring 2011 Mainstage Production of Sarah Ruhl's "Eurydice" directed by Brook Davis - and did a conceptual 2-Phased negation of the image.

Perspective Renderings
THE 150: Intro to Design & Production [taught by prof. Jon Christman] at Wake Forest University during the Spring semester of 2010. However, prof. Robert Eastman-Mullins (another member of the design faculty) on this occasion taught us how to draw/render a given space in perspective using both 1 and 2 point perspective. Through using 1 or 2 or more vanishing point(s), our renderings had a much finer sense of distance as well as allowing for the illusion of depth. After combining these concepts, we came to better understand 3-Dimensional renderings.

Billie Whitelaw
THE 311: History of Western Theatre II [taught by WFU prof. J.K Curry]. Spring 2012. This dramaturgical research presentation illustrates the life & work of British stage/film actress Billie Whitelaw. Whitelaw was known as Samuel Beckett's favorite actress, and remains to this day, a lead interpreter of the late dramatist's work.

The class project assignment was to select a favorite scenic/lighting designer and catalogue production photos, model set photos, rendering, etc. into a portfolio like presentation. We also had to select a favorite production design image. In this presentation my favorite Koltai production space was a both "Suddenly, Last Summer" by Tennessee Williams. Catastrophe
ENG 301: Individual Authors: Samuel Beckett [taught by WFU prof. Jefferson Holdridge]. Fall 2011. This dramaturgical research presentation is focused on Samuel Beckett's late drama "Catastrophe" (1982). This is arguably Beckett's most political work.

One of my poems that was published in the Fall 2010 issue of "3 to 4 Ounces" (Wake Forest University's literary/visual arts magazine).
Three to Four Ounces, formerly The Student literary magazine, was founded on the original Wake Forest campus in 1883. The magazine has undergone many changes since its inception, but has continued to serve as a creative forum in the Wake Forest University community for visual and literary arts. It is published twice per year by the students of Wake Forest University. All material is chosen through a blind selection process. We are a non-for-profit organization, but donations are accepted.
